I have sciatica & can't stand for long periods, so I needed a stool in the kitchen to do tasks at the counter/sink/stove while sitting. This was the only thing in a reasonable (...) price range. Good quality materials, cushy seat. I was a little concerned that the foot rest would interfere with movement, but now am Very glad of it. In order to be high enough to work on the counters, I really need it to rest my feet on, cause I'm short (5'2"). But if you don't want to use it, you can just leave it off (Very Easy assembly). I bought the model with castors for hard floors (very smooth motion), but it does Not roll on carpet, so be sure to get the one you need (different castors for carpet). The seat also is able to tilt about 30 degrees forward.

The only reason it didn't receive (...) stars, is that it's NOT really a true "saddle" seat unless you are a really BIG/TALL person?

If you are tall and carry any weight at all, this chair is insufficient. I am 6'3" and 225 lbs, and when I sit on this thing the piston compresses and it drops the chair 2". That's 2" I can't lose, I -need- the advertised height. So problem number one is the fact that the piston doesn't hold the advertised maximum height.
Problem number two is the foot ring. I am pretty strong and I have cranked the tightening knob extremely tight on the foot ring, but if I put any weight on it to shift my position, it slides down the piston.
These are basic engineering failures that have no excuse. I will return this product and not buy any Office Star products again.
Oh and the packaging was horrid. Huge box, no padding, and with the large hole in the box it's lucky all the parts arrived.

The saddle style seat has been a good choice for me. comfortable in spite of no back. it does feel good for my finicky lower back yet keeps me in an alert energetic seated possession. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars is b/c i also have a $1,000. version of the saddle seat which is superior in build and options but i sure paid for it. This lower price seat is a good one well worth the price.
